Dear Fellow Mayoites,
To recharge our intellectual batteries and familiarise ourselves on a topic of national importance, the Mayo College OBA (Delhi) has arranged for a discussion on "India's Economic Security: The way ahead" by perhaps the finest panel of experts in India.
Economic growth is vital to nation’s security, however most do not fully appreciate its significance. In addition to economic and financial matters, it includes provision of raw materials, training and deployment of human resources, meeting energy needs, developing strategic industry et al. The panelists would comprise of experts in the fields of finance, energy and industry.
The proposed speakers would include Dr. Rakesh Mohan (a distinguished Old Boy and former Dy. Governor Reserve Bank of India and recently appointed as Chairman National Transport Development Policy Committee), Mr. Tarun Das (former Director-General of CII) and Mrs. Sudha Mahalingam (an energy economist with 30 years of professional experience). She is currently Member of India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board entrusted with the responsibility of regulating downstream hydrocarbon sector and is also a Member of India’s National Security Advisory Board which advises the Prime Minister through the National Security Advisor on security-related issues.
The event will be held on Friday, the 12th March, 2010 at India Habitat Centre at 7.30pm at the Magnolia Room.
